School of Computation, Information and Technology
Integrated research and degree programs designed for the future: The TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT) at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) unites the disciplines of Mathematics, Informatics, and Electrical and Computer Engineering. The research and teaching activities range from theoretical knowledge to its application. In line with our mission statement, we focus across disciplines on the major challenges of our time, such as the digital transformation. At the same time, our expertise remains firmly embedded in our core disciplines.
The founding of the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology is part of TUM's structural transformation. Inspired by its international peers, TUM is transforming its internal structure into a modern matrix organization. In a move away from its traditional, discipline-specific departmental structure, seven schools with a broader focus will be linked by Interdisciplinary Research Centers. In this process, the former departments of Mathematics, Informatics, and Electrical and Computer Engineering will pool their competencies.
