International Cooperations
International partnerships form the foundation of joint projects and research. The Chairs at the TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology (CIT) can enter into collaboration agreements with universities worldwide. These agreements deepen the sometimes decades of collaboration in common areas of expertise.
Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam
The Chair for Computer Architecture & Parallel Systems at the TUM School of Information, Computation and Technology collaborates with the Indian Institute of Information Technology Kottayam. Prof Michael Gerndt and Dr. Shajulin Benedict have worked successfully together for many years. Dr. Shajulin Benedict has already visited CIT twice as a guest professor and contributes to the lectures in Cloud Computing every summer semester. During the Chair’s return visit to India, Prof. Gerndt taught courses on the Internet of Things.
IITK-Kottayam is an independent institute for information technology in Valavoor, Palai, Kottayam District, Kerala.
University of Lagos (UNILAG), Akoka, Nigeria
CIT has entered into collaboration agreements with three African partner universities as part of a Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) proposal for mathematical epidemiology in the sub-Sahara region.
One of the universities is the University of Lagos in Akoka, Nigeria (UNILAG). With more than 50,000 students, it is one of the largest universities in Nigeria. Johannes Müller, Professor for Mathematical Methods of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at CIT, conducts research with Professor Eno Akarawak from UNILAG.
Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST), Kakamega, Kenya
The TUM School of Computation, Information and Technology entered into a collaboration agreement with Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) in Kenya through a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) proposal within the scope of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG). MMUST is a state university with around 25,000 students. The institution has a main campus in Kakamega Town and two satellite campuses in Webuye and Bungoma. MMUST was founded in 1972 as a college of applied sciences and has been a state-accredited university since 2007.
Moi University, Eldoret, Kenya
Moi University has its main campus in Eldoret and four other campuses located throughout Kenya: Annex, Coast, Eldoret Town (CHS) and Nairobi. It was founded in Kenya in 1984 as a second state university. Currently, there are 30,000 students studying at Moi.
The CIT Department of Mathematics and the School of Sciences and Aerospace Studies at Moi University entered into the collaboration agreement. Prof. Johannes Müller from the Technical University of Munich and Prof. Frederick Nyamwala from Moi University are working on a joint project on the “Mathematical Epidemiology in the Sub-Saharan Region” within the scope of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
