As part of the TopMath Alumni Speakers Series, TopMath regularly invites graduates of its program to share their experiences with students and doctoral candidates. The speakers present their current projects in research or industry, speak about their career path and are available for an informal exchange.
For the third Alumnus Talk of the year 2023, we were able to invite Dr. Matthias Caro. Matthias Caro, TopMath year 2015/16, worked as a postdoctoral visiting research fellow in the group of John Preskill at the Institute for Quantum Information and Matter. He currently works at the intersection of quantum information theory and machine learning theory as a postdoctoral researcher in the group of Jens Eisert at the Physics Department of the Freie Universität Berlin.
Matthias Caro: Classical Verification of Quantum Learning
The talk first introduced methods of Boolean Fourier analysis for classical learning theory. Based on this, elements of quantum learning theory were discussed and a framework for the classical verification of quantum learning algorithms was developed.
