The Technical University of Munich (TUM) has appointed a new Vice President to manage and further develop the TUM Campus, Heilbronn. Effective 1 October 2024, Prof. Ali Sunyaev has assumed the role of Vice President TUM Campus Heilbronn.

From September 3 to 6, 2024, the international conference "Operations Research" (OR) took place at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). Every year, experts from science and practice come together to discuss the fields of operations research, management science, data science and analytics.

Two talented researchers at TUM have been awarded ERC Starting Grants from the European Research Council (ERC) this year. The EU provides this financial support to scientists who are at an early stage in their careers.

Prof. Viktor Leis from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) receives the Early Career Research Contribution Award of the Very Large Data Base Endowment Inc. (VLDB). This is only the second time that the prize has gone to Europe, and the second time to the TUM.

With the start of lectures in the winter semester, chatbot Iris is also back in action. She offers computer science students personalized assistance with programming exercises. Several lecturers are currently using Iris in their courses. She thus supports several thousand students.
