Gaining Experience Abroad
Enriching experiences abroad can be gained through a variety of opportunities - study stays, internships, or research. After reading our websites, feel free to contact the study abroad advisor for the subject area of Informatics (contains: degree program bundle in Informatics and Information Engineering (Heilbronn)).
Studying Abroad
Students of TUM CIT Informatics can benefit from the many exchange agreements at central level and in the subject area and study abroad for one to two semesters, for example via TUMexchange or ERASMUS+. Subject-specific information will help you to integrate your study stay abroad well into your TUM studies. A well thought-out study progress plan is important so that you can accommodate the shifted semester times abroad and the early application deadlines for exchange programs. Via the mobility window you can find out the right time for your stay abroad: by reading the websites of TUM CIT Informatics first and individual counseling afterwards.
Internship abroad
An internship abroad - whether an internship with a company or a research internship at another university - can be a valuable enrichment for your TUM studies. Recurring announcements for research internships at universities, but also tips on how to prepare for an internship at a company abroad, can be found at Internship Abroad.
Final thesis abroad
Many students would like to combine their master's thesis with a stay abroad. But where and how to start? The menu item ''Thesis Abroad'' specifically addresses this issue.
Recording of stays abroad in the Diploma Supplement
At TUM, stays abroad will be included in the Diploma Supplement: self-organized stays under certain conditions, most stays via TUM exchange programs automatically. The exact framework conditions can be found on our websites on the Diploma Supplement (stays abroad).
MINGA Mentoring Program
TUM CIT Informatics welcomes 200-300 exchange students and international degree students from all over the world each semester. To help students feel at home as soon as they arrive in Munich (in bavarian: MINGA), the mentoring program MINGA (Mentors for International & Guest Students from Abroad) matches international students with current TUM students, providing the chance to connect with a peer who can answer questions and offer assistance. You want to engage with other international students, have fun and gain intercultural experiences at the same time? Then just apply as a MINGA mentor!
